What’s the Story?

I was eating a snack while in Exam Prep for English that morning, it was nearing noon. My friends and I always ate our lunch at 11am, as I was paying attention to the lesson and talking with my friends. I ate these cookies which I regularly ate. I got bored, and read the ingredient list, and realized that it had milk protien in it. I stopped eating and passed the package to my friends. And told them right away about my allergy and that I might experience an allergic reaction and need their help. We got excused and we walked fast to the office so I could call my parents. As we walked, I monitered my breathing in case of my usual of hard breathing, and them watching for the swelling. As we did that, I stayed calm about it. We waited in the office, and luckily no symptoms occured.

How could this have been prevented?
I was very lucky this day that I did not have a reaction. I learned the importance of always checking the ingredient list before eating, even if you have eaten it before. I also wish I told my friends about my allergy before this close call as it was a shock to them.
